How Many Numbers Do I Need to Display for my VIN?
Every vehicle is given a unique vehicle identification number (VIN) no matter which type of automobile it may be.
For commercial carriers, it is suggested that you display your “VIN number” (many truckers call it this) on your truck. You can find your VIN number on your trucking paperwork, or simply open your driver-side door and look for the label along the doorway.
The VIN number is comprised of 17 unique characters that are specific to your truck. Now, all 17 of the numbers don’t have to be displayed; it is suggested that you display the last 8 characters of your VIN on your commercial vehicle. This shows your model number and particular serial number for your vehicle and would suffice as adequate display of VIN.
